Everyday
Aerobics: For the biggest body-shaping benefits,
you can't beat strength training. But to boost your
weekly calorie burn and lose fat faster, add a little
aerobic exercise. Gone are the days of having to squeeze
into a pair of Lycra tights and sweat up a storm in
an exercise class. You can get all the aerobic benefits
you need from everyday activities like walking or
even gardening. Once you start adding some cardiovascular
exercise into your routine, you'll find that a little
goes a long way. If you do nothing more than take
two brisk 10- to 15-minute walks a day, you can drop
one or two sizes over the course of a year, even without
dieting. Some researchers also believe that aerobic
exercise specifically targets the layer of fat in
your abdominal area, which is good news for stubborn
belly bulges. What's more, the benefits of aerobic
exercise extend well beyond a shrinking waistline
as studies shows that the more calories you burn,
the less likely you are to get cardiovascular disease,
stroke, diabetes, depression, Alzheimer's disease,
and even certain cancers. The most important part
of your aerobic routine is to do something you love.
If it's an activity you hate, you'll get frustrated
or bored and quit. The exercise you choose should
be something you find enjoyable and that fits conveniently
into your life. Consider classes that combine indoor cycling
and yoga, tai chi and strength training, kickboxing
and stretching. Or try your hand at a fun, new dance,
such as belly dancing, line dancing, or swing. Not
the group-exercising type? Try a new active hobby,
such as swimming, hiking your local nature trails,
or playing golf or tennis. Remember, a good 5-minute
warm-up helps you burn more calories and avoid injury.
By starting your activity slowly you increase your
core body temperature, which leads to more efficient
calorie burning. Comfortable, breathable, supportive
clothes are also keys to exercise success. Foremost
is proper footwear, because if your feet hurt, you
hurt. Research also shows that the single most important
factor for sticking with an exercise program for the
first year is having the support of friends and family.
You're even more likely to succeed if you have a friend
or family member working out with you. You'll grow
closer as you get fit together. (Prevention)

Fast
Fruit & Veggie Ways: Ideally you should
be eating at least nine servings of fruits and vegetables
a day. However, the average American gets less than
four. Getting your fill doesn't have to be a struggle.
Try these 10 tricks and you'll be up to nine in no time.
Start with vegetables. Before you put anything
else on your plate, start with a salad, a heap of green
beans, or a stalk of broccoli. After you've eaten your
vegetables, add the other components of the meal. Make
a super salad. One 7-ounce bag of washed lettuce
equals a bit more than one serving. Add a sliced tomato,
a diced apple, and a quarter cup of raisins and you've
just increased that to four servings. Keep it convenient.
Either slice vegetables yourself and keep them in the
fridge in ice water or buy precut vegetables. Don't
shun canned fruits, either. If they're packed in unsweetened
syrup, they provide a quick, convenient way to get a
serving or more. Frozen vegetables are another excellent
shortcut. Throw them into soups or stews without defrosting.
Drink them. Although you don't get the same amount
of fiber in canned fruit or vegetable juice as you do
in the whole fruit, it's still a good way to get a serving
or two a day. Add a small can of V8 or tomato juice
to your afternoon snack, or throw a banana, a cup of
berries, and a container of nonfat yogurt into your
blender for a three-fruit-servings smoothie. Get
them on pizza. Forget the pepperoni. Order a vegetable
pizza. You'll get sweet, roasted vegetables with every
slice. Hide them. Add grated carrots, onions,
celery, peppers or mushrooms to lasagna or spaghetti
sauce. And use potato puree to thicken soups in place
of cream. (RD.com)

Prioritize Excitement in Your Life: Are
you waiting for your life to be different? As you
read this are you thinking about taking a whitewater rafting trip, going to the theatre, or starting a yoga class?
But you get stuck thinking you don’t have enough
time and these invitations are for other people. The
truth is you can’t squeeze another hour into
your day or another day into your week; however you
can choose to prioritize time for yourself and create
some adventure in your life. Try reviewing the
opportunities presented to you through LifeBalance
and take yourself on a new adventure. You might not
have more time, but you’ll sure be having more

Did
you know earth day is April 22? The first Earth
Day was held on April 22, 1970. Earth Day is
a time to celebrate the gains that have been made
and create new visions to accelerate environmental
progress. Earth Day is a time to unite around new
actions. Take action at home by saving energy, using
less water, handling toxics properly and by reducing,
reusing and recycling. Earth Day and every day is
a time to act to protect our planet.

Freedom
of Attitude: When you wake up in the morning,
you are completely free to choose whatever attitude
you wish to have. And the attitude you choose can
have an enormous impact on the way your day unfolds.
Each time you encounter another person, you are completely
free to choose your attitude toward that person. And
the attitude you choose will most certainly determine
how well the encounter goes. For every event or
situation that comes along, you are completely free
to choose the attitude with which you respond. And the attitude you choose will determine how much
positive value you gain from whatever is going on.
With many aspects of your life, there are restrictions
and limitations imposed upon you from outside forces.
Yet with your own attitude, you have total, unlimited
control. And your attitude can make a big difference,
with people, with events, with what you get out of
the moments that make up each day. Your attitude exerts
a powerful influence, and it is yours to direct as
you wish. Choose not to allow your attitude to merely
follow you along. For you are free to choose an attitude
that will lead you to ever-higher levels of achievement
and fulfillment. (Global
