How to Know if the Shoe Fits: In the market for a new pair of running or walking shoes? Follow these shopping tips to find the perfect match for your feet. Shop at the end of the day. That's when your feet are largest. If you walk in the morning, you can always make small adjustments in size with socks. Wear your walking socks. Some styles are really thick, and you may need to go half a size larger with your shoes to accommodate them. Get your feet measured. As you get older, your feet tend to flatten out. Also, your feet swell when you walk, and they need room as they go through the walking motion. So be kind to your feet; measure them and be sure to buy big-enough shoes. Footwear that's too small can cause all kinds of problems. A study by the American Podiatric Medical Association revealed that most foot problems result from wearing too-small shoes. When you try on shoes, make sure that you have at least a finger's width beyond the end of your longest toe (usually the big toe). And remember to measure when you're standing up rather than sitting down. Spend some time in the shoes you are trying on. Walk around the store. If you're in a mall, ask if you can take a few laps around the inside corridors. The shoes should feel great. Good luck and get going. (Prevention)

Weight Management Eating Plan: Just how do they do it: lose double-digit weight and keep it off, especially since so many of us fail at getting slimmer waistlines and maintaining? Here are the key strategies you can make part of your own weight-management plan, if you haven't already. Eat a high-carbohydrate, low-fat diet. Get most of your calories - from 55 to 60 percent - from carbohydrates and 24 percent from fat. The rest is from protein. Emphasize good carbohydrates found in fruits, vegetables and other high-fiber foods, not carbohydrates based on sugar. Avoid the processed foods and pack high quality, healthy snacks. Be conscious of calories. Successful maintainers know that total calories count, no matter what diet you follow. Eat breakfast. Eight out of 10 successful maintainers eat breakfast every day, which may help manage calories during the day. Eat often - an average of five smaller meals and snacks a day. This will help your hunger pains and make you focus on quality meals. Self-monitor. Successful weight maintainers weigh themselves at least once a week, some more frequently, or keep food diaries. Get active - 60 minutes a day. In addition to carving out time in your busy schedules every day for exercise, look for ways to add more simple activity throughout the day. The number one activity is walking. Eat most of your meals at home. Be confident in your ability to eat right, lose weight and keep it off. (FoodFit.com)

Replenishing Your Own Needs: I remember once I went on vacation for a week and I forgot to water my houseplant. I got home to find a wilted plant with leaves scattered all over the floor. I quickly ran and got a pitcher of water that I poured into the soil and then I placed the plant on the windowsill for light. I apologized for my neglect and unpacked my bags and went to sleep. The next morning, the plant looked so much better! It had gotten exactly what it needed for replenishing and was able to stand with more vitality and strength to let everyone see how magnificent it truly was. Do you seem to take care of yourself when you're "on your last leg" like my plant, or only when it becomes urgent because you're sick or hurt? If so, then take a look at the LifeBalance options and find a way to revive your life and enhance your vitality. (Brought to you by Jason

Coffee and Caffeine: A cup of drip brewed coffee has about 115 milligrams of caffeine, an espresso about 80mg, while instant coffee has about 65mg of caffeine. Decaffeinated coffee is not totally caffeine free, containing about 3mg of caffeine. A can of cola has about 25mg of caffeine. Tea has about 40mg of caffeine, while an ounce of chocolate contains about 20mg.
Coffee is the world's most popular stimulant: 4 out of 5 Americans drink it, consuming more than 400 million cups a day. With more than 25 million people employed in the industry, coffee is second only to oil in world trade.

Joy of the Journey: Are you so focused on results that you miss the joy of the journey? In your quest to get there quickly, are you bypassing much of the value along the way? Certainly it is important to focus on the results you intend to reach. It is also critical to focus on and appreciate the real value that goes into making those results, and that value is to be found and to be lived along the way. Achievement is not some future object. It is a present state of being. The more you enjoy building the achievement, the more valuable that achievement will always be. The more you savor the journey, the more magnificent and fulfilling the destination will be. Success is not merely something that you will someday attain. Success is yours the moment you begin to truly appreciate, value and enjoy the journey. (Global

Cell Phone Jingle: The jingle of cell phones at work can be distracting to you and to others in your office. Put your phone on silent or turn it off to avoid interfering with concentration at work. Also, talking on your cell phone while driving is a dangerous practice and should be avoided whenever possible, especially while driving for business. Pull over and stop completely before you pick up the phone. (Brought to you by Xenium
