FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Spring Fling Encourages Thousands to Get Fit and Stay Healthy

Anchorage, Alaska (March 2009) - As budget constraints, shorter days and cold weather make it difficult for many families to make health and wellness a priority, leading Anchorage employers, with the guidance of The Wilson Agency and The LifeBalance Program, are lending a helping hand. To support clients committed to providing proactive wellness solutions for their employees, The Wilson Agency is hosting Spring Fling on Thursday, March 12, 2009 from 5pm – 8pm at The Alaska Dome.

The event is a family friendly opportunity designed for employees of all Wilson Agency clients to experience the Alaska Dome.  Participants are encouraged to take time to reflect on their personal fitness level, health and wellbeing as they enjoy walking or running on the Alaska Dome’s indoor track. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win wellness related prizes donated by The LifeBalance Program.

Additionally, Deenie Robertson, The Wilson Agency Account Executive responsible for worksite wellness and Spring Fling coordinator, will be available to answer questions about employer sponsored wellness programs and the impact of workforce health on businesses.  Robertson believes that it is imperative that businesses examine the impact unhealthy employees have on the workforce, including financial implications, productivity, absenteeism, presenteeism and employee morale. Robertson said, “With the challenges present in our current economic situation, having productive employees has become more important than ever. A comprehensive wellness program is a valuable tool to help businesses manage the risk and expense associated with unhealthy employees.”

Participants will also have the opportunity to learn more about the complete suite of wellness programs, including The LifeBalance Program, offered by The Wilson Agency and receive information regarding the impact of the implementation of these programs. “The Wilson Agency’s wellness clients are seeing year-over-year improvement.  For example, at one business, employees’ blood pressure and triglycerides have been reduced by over 20%, significantly reducing the advancement of chronic health problems,” said Robertson.
