FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

LifeBalance Program Encourages Members to Enjoy Vacation by Offering Low Cost Options

PORTLAND, OREGON (July 2008) - According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor & Statistics the average American receives only 14 days of vacation per year, about half as much time as workers in comparable nations like England and France.  This time constraint coupled with high gas prices and other economic concerns across the U.S. have led to fewer than 40% of Americans taking a summer vacation in 2008, the fewest number of expected travelers in 30 years.

While keeping employees at work may sound like a dream for employers, in reality, it is anything but ideal.  According to the Austin Business Journal, “for every one dollar of vacation benefits they (employers) provide their employees, they receive a three dollar return on the benefit investment in the form of improved employee productivity and morale.”

Like most, LifeBalance clients and members are eager to reap the many financial and wellness benefits of vacation but are not willing to compromise personal financial integrity to do so.  “As prices continue to rise it seems nearly impossible for our family of four to pay for a hotel room, gas, entertainment and food on our typical vacation budget,” said Maria Copper, LifeBalance member. “We either have to find a way to spend less, expand our vacation budget, which is difficult when even groceries costs are rising, or skip the vacation altogether.”

Fortunately for LifeBalance members like Copper, finding a way to spend less on vacation costs is a simple process through the LifeBalance Program.  “Our goal is to alleviate some of the stress, financial and otherwise, so that our members and clients can choose to enjoy all of the benefits of time away from the office,” said Dave Miller, LifeBalance Program Director.   “We believe that providing financially responsible vacation options will allow our members to take much needed time away from work and come back well rested and more productive, thus creating value for both LifeBalance clients and their employees.”

This summer vacation season, the LifeBalance Program has enhanced member benefits to include robust savings on rental cars, hotels and other lodging options and local and regional attractions and amusement.  Miller asserts, “The LifeBalance Program is unique because each individual can customize their own vacation based on their preferences.  We offer discounts at Wild Waves, Silverwood and the Great Wolf Lodge for the waterpark fans, the Oregon Zoo, Wildlife Safari and Monterey Bay Aquarium for the animal lovers and thousands of spas and resorts for those seeking a calming experience.”

The LifeBalance Program is an active wellness program headquartered in Portland, Oregon. The program has been helping clients and members achieve an active, healthy and balanced life through recreational, cultural and wellness activities, events and resources since 1996. The LifeBalance Program is sold to businesses as an employer sponsored employee benefit or bundled into health/association plan offerings as a value added wellness component and healthy lifestyle promotion. The LifeBalance Program currently supports over 3,000 clients and 400,000 LifeBalance Program members in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. Existing strategic relationships include Providence Health Plan, Associated General Contractors, The CHP Group, Pacific Health Trust, Providence Health & Services, Municipality of Anchorage, PeaceHealth, West Coast Bank and Xenium.
